Military Medal 'On the 6th March 1917 Sapper MAYHEW was on duty as linesman between Brigade and Battalion Headquarters at LUISENHOF Farm. Whilst the Farm was being heavily shelled, he repeatedly repaired the lines in his charge and also rendered valuable assistance to one of our Airmen who was brought down by the enemy, mortally wounded. By his devotion to duty he materially assisted in maintaing communication at a critical time during the operations.'
