Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 5 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 12 June 1916.

Wounded in action, 3 September 1916; admitted to No 2 Canadian Field Ambulance, 4 September 1916 (shrapnel wound, left finger); transferred to No 1 Canadian Field Ambulance, 4 September 1916; to No 49 Casualty Clearing Station, 4 September 1916; to No 8 Ambulance Train, 5 September 1916; to No 18 General Hospital, Camier, 6 September 1916; to No 6 Convalescent Depot, Rouen, 13 September 1916.
