Taken on strength of 3rd Pioneer Bn in the field, 16 March 1917. Detached for railway construction, West Cappel, 20 March 1917; rejoined unit, 27 April 1917. Admitted to 10th Australian Field Ambulance, 13 June 1918 (pyrexia); transferred to 47th Casualty Clearing Station, 13 June 1918; to 4th Army Convalescent Depot, 20 June 1918; rejoined unit, 4 July 1918. Proeeded on leave in the United Kingdom, 11 August 1918; rejoined unit, 1 September 1918. Admitted to 39th General Hospital, Le Havre, 21 April 1919; transferred to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 28 April 1919.
