Military Medal 'During the attack East of VILLERS BRETONNEUX near AMIENS, on August 8th 1918, when his platoon was held up by an enemy post, this man went forward alone and bombed the post. He then rushed it, killing the garrison of three and capturing the gun. Moving along the trench he was mainly instrumental in capturing fifteen prisoners. On another occasion, when the rest of his section had become casualties, he took the Lewis Gun forward and used it freely against the enemy, enabling the line to advance in that locality.'
