Proceeded overseas to France, 29 August 1916; taken on strength, 1st Australian Tunnelling Company, 30 September 1916. Admitted to 6th London Field Ambulance, 1 December 1916 (myalgia); transferred to 47th Divisional Rest Station, 2 December 1916; to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, 5 December 1916 (bronchitis); discharged to duty, and rejoined unit, 4 January 1917. Admitted to 50th Field Ambulance, 28 July 1917 (bronchitis); transferred to 1st Casualty Clearing Station, 31 July 1917; to 1st Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 1 August 1917; transferred to England, 5 August 1917, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Monyhull, 6 August 1917.
