Military Medal

'For devotion to duty on two occasions, 1st a new trench had been traced out close up to Frontline and was observed by the enemy who placed a Machine Gun on the line. The night following Sergeant McCORMACK completed the trace under Machine Gun fire which was sweeping the line. 2nd On night of 5th/6th May he was present in the lines during the enemys bombardment of the salient. He remained there and immediately the bombardment ceased he collected his sappers and commenced opening up the communication and directing work on the trenches which had been damaged.'
