Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 28 March 1916.

Transferred to 21st Field Artillery Brigade, 15 May 1916.

Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 1 January 1917, and transferred same day to New Zealand Stationary Hospital, Amiens (influenza); to 11th Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 4 January 1917; to No 4 Convalescent Depot, Rouen, 16 January 1917; to Base Depot, 19 January 1917.

Posted to and taken on strength of 4th Battery, 10 February 1917.

On leave to England, 25 August 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 12 September 1917.

On leave to United Kingdom, 1 October 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 22 October1918.

Granted leave without pay, 26 March to 25 May 1919 (Non-Military Employment: business, attending Eden, Bundennett, Strabane, Ireland); leave extended to 25 June 1919.

Retransferred to 2nd field Artillery Brigade on expiration of leave, 26 June 1919.
