Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force at Gallipoli, 5 August 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria, 5 September 1915, and admitted to No 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, the same day (gunshot wound, thumb); transferred to Convalescent Hospital, Helouan, 5 October 1915.

Admitted to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Gezireh, 6 November 1915 (septic thumb); transferred to Ras el Tin Convalescent Home, 11 December 1915; rejoined 9th Australian Light Horse Regiment, Heliopolis, 18 January 1916.

Admitted to No 1 Australian General Hospital, 2 March 1916 (influenza, slight); taken on strength of 3rd Reserve Regt, 6 March 1916; transferred to Ras el Tin Convalescent Home, Alexandria, 23 March 1916 (strained heart); found guilty, 14 May 1916, of misuse of a pass: award, forfeits 14 days' leave; to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital for Medical Board, 17 June 1916; to No 1 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 23 June 1916; discharged, 4 July 1916.
