Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force at Gallipoli, 15 May 1915.

Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 19 June 1915 (gun shot wound, left thigh); treated at Casualty Clearing Station, Anzac Cove; transferred to HS 'Gascon'; transferred to Mudros, 21 June 1915, and admitted to No. 2 Australian Stationary Hospital. Transferred to Malta, 16 July 1915.

Embarked from Malta on board HMT 'Koroa', 26 September 1915; taken on strength, Overseas Base, Alexandria, 30 September 1915. Embarked from Alexandria ('fit for active service') on board HMAT 'Borda' for Gallipoli, 18 October 1915.
