Wounded in action, Belgium, 29 October 1917 (gas, severe); transferred to England, 9 November 1917; admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Edgbaston, 10 November 1917. Granted furlough on discharge from hospital, 22 November 1917, to report to Depot, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire, 6 December 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 17 January 1918; rejoined unit, 11 February 1918.
