Admitted to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 27 July 1915 (gastritis); transferred to HS 'Soudan', 27 July 1915 (gastritis and diarrhoea); to 1st Australian General Hospital, Cairo, 31 July 1915 (not yet diagnosed); to A&NZ Convalescent Hospital, Helouan, 5 August 1915 (blind left eye); discharged to Base Details, Maadi, 11 August 1915; rejoined unit at Gallipoli, 21 August 1915.

GOC, A&NZ Mounted Division approved of no further action being taken in the case of this man illegally absenting himself, 13 July 1916. Disembarked Alexandria from Marseilles (stowaway), 15 July 1916. Marched in under escort, 2nd Reserve Regiment, Tel el Kebir, 16 July 1916.

Reported to 7th Light Horse Regiment, Bir Etmaler, Canal Zone, 3 August 1916.

Killed in action, 9 August 1916.
