Embarked Sydney, 4 May 1916; found guilty, Fremantle, 23 May 1916, of disobedience of orders in that he brought spiritous liquors aboard ship: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2; disembarked Devonport, England, 9 July 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 21 November 1916.

Admitted to 11th Field Ambulance, 17 January 1917 (scabies); transferred to NZ Casualty Clearing Station, 18 January 1917; discharged to duty, 23 January 1917.

Admitted to 10th Field Ambulance, 3 February 1917 (scabies); discharged same day to Divisional Rest Station; admitted to 11th Casualty Clearing Station, 9 February 1917;

Wounded in action, 16 April 1918; died of wounds, same day, 41st Casualty Clearing Station.
