War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Melbourne on HMAT 'Ulysees', SERN 70, 22 December 1914. Evacuated from Gallipoli and admitted to 1st Australian Stationary Hospital, Lemnos, 27 May 1915 (rheumatism, tonsilitis). Proceeded to Malta on HS 'Neuralia', 31 May 1915; admitted to St. Andrew's Hospital, Malta, 4 June 1915; disembarked from 'Seang Bee', Alexandria, 16 July 1915. Embarked Alexandria on HMT 'Knight Templar' and proceeded to join Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, 18 July 1915. Admitted to hospital, Gallipoli, 23 August 1915 (gun shot wound, back and left chest). Admitted to Lewisham Military Hospital, England, 9 September 1915 (severely wounded); discharged to depot, Weymouth, 25 February 1916.
