Military Medal 'For consistent and valorous service for the past six months. During the period in the STRAZEELE Sector, this N.C.O. showed great initiative in leading patrols and in a minor operation led his Section with skill and daring against the enemy positions. During the recent operations this N.C.O. was a member of a patrol which was fired on by enemy machine guns and forced to withdraw. One of the patrol being badly wounded, this N.C.O. returned and carried the wounded man back to our lines on his back while still under heavy machine gun fire.'
