Joined 9th Light Horse Regiment, Eastern Expeditionary Force, 30 August 1918.

Admitted to 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance, 10 September 1918; transferred to 24th Stationary Hospital, Kantara, 20 September 1918 (pleurisy); to 14th Australian General Hospital, Port Said, 21 September 1918; to Desert Mounted Corps Rest Camp, 5 December 1918; to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, 16 January 1919 (malaria).

Commenced return to Australia from Kantara on board HT 'Euripides', 14 March 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 15 April 1919; discharged (medically unfit: malaria), 12 July 1919.
