Military Medal

'This man while engaged in VILLERS-BRETONNEUX, MORLANCOURT, HARBONNIERES and PERONNE operations has continuously shown the most praiseworthy courage and devotion to duty. His constant good spirits while in difficult situations has encouraged and steadied the remainder of his team, who were at times men who had not become injured to shell fire. At all times he has been a willing and highly efficient soldier, with a courage and ability far above the ordinary.'
