War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Western Front Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 4 September 1915. Disembarked Alexandria from Mudros, 10 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Admitted to 6th Field Ambulance, 10 March 1916 (jaundice); transferred to 1st Australian Stationary Hospital, Ismailia, 11 March 1916; discharged to duty, 19 March 1916. Taken on strength, 32nd Bn, Duntroon Plateau, 6 April 1916; absorbed on strength, 32nd Bn, Ferry Post, 24 April 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Reported missing, 20 July 1916. Prisoner of War German list dated 4 November 1916 received by Wounded and Missing Inquiry Bureau. File (p. 3) bears notation: 'Identification disc received from Germany. No particulars were afforded except that soldier is deceased. To be reported as KILLED IN ACTION 20/7/16.' German report, 2 August 1916: 'austr. Sold. McKenzie, A.M.G.
