Military Medal 'This man has shown consistent bravery and determination of a conspicuous kind in laying and maintaining the communications between this Battery and the observation station during the 10 days of the recent engagement at HOOGE, under constant and severe shell fire. In particular on the 20th September, 1917, he maintained communication with a forward observation station in between the Battery and Headquarters under heavy fire at a very critical and important time, enabling the Battery to be controlled during the operation and valuable information to be sent back.'
