Proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force from Alexandria, 27 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 3 April 1916. Slightly wounded in the field, 5 June 1916, and admitted to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; rejoined unit, 7 June 1916. Wounded in action, second occasion, 21 August 1916; admitted (gun shot wound leg) to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, 24 August 1916. Transferred to 6th Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 5 September 1916.
