Military Medal

'On 3rd September 1918 at PERONNE, although almost exhausted by fatigue of the previous three days operations, and suffering from the effects of gas, he declined to be evacuated and asked to be allowed to remain with his gun team, and his wonderful devotion to duty in trying by extra work to make up for casualties which his Section had suffered was an inspiring example to his comrades. His bravery, coolness and cheerfulness deserve special recognition.'
