Military Medal 'During the operations in the vicinity of MONTBREHAIN, north of ST. QUENTIN, on 5th October, 1918, this N.C.O. carried out valuable patrol and liaison work. He established communication with a Company of 21st Battalion and displayed judgement and powers of organisation above the ordinary. When the enemy attempted to outflank his Company on the right he gathered a few men together and led them to a commanding position, thus forestalling the enemy plans and making his Company secure. Sergeant McNAIR's party sent back about twenty prisoners, and he himself accounted for four of the enemy.'
