Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For very gallant leadership during the period 16-17 September to 11 November, 1918. At Villeret, on 18 September, 1918, he led his platoon on two separate occasions at enemy strong points. On the first occasion he worked his Lewis gun section to a flank and with his fire succeeded in killing the enemy garrison. On the second occasion he personally led the charge against another enemy machine gun, which resulted in the capture of the gun with four prisoners.'
