Statement, Red Cross File No 1960702, 3130 Pte G.C. PALMER. D Company, 59th Bn, 4 May 1917: 'I am sorry that I have been unable to gather information likely to help you in your enquiries. He was in our company and went over on 19th July in our advance on the German trenches and never reported back. As practically none of our fellows reached the enemy line, the only inference is, that he was killed and hisbody never brought in, as happened to so many others that day.'
