Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Ulysees', 20 February 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 5 May 1916; detrained Hazebrouck, 8 May 1916.

Admitted to 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, England, whilst on leave, 7 December 1916; discharged on remainder of leave, 19 December 1916. Admitted to Military Hospital, Shorncliffe, 20 December 1916 (sprained back); transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, 6 March 1917; discharged to duty, 12 March 1917; marched into No 4 Command Depot, Wareham, 13 March 1917; marched into Drafting Depot, Perham Downs, 28 March 1917.

Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 9 May 1917; marched into Australian General Base Depot, Etaples, 10 May 1917; rejoined unit in the field, 17 May 1917.

Admitted to 100th Field Ambulance, 18 August 1917, and transferred to 18th Casualty Clearing Station (broncho pneumonia), to Ambulance Train '11', 2 September 1917, and admitted to 4th Stationary Hospital, Arques. Proceeded to England on HS 'Ville de Liege' for treatment, 13 September 1917; admitted to 5th Southern General Hospital, Portsmouth, 14 September 1917 (gas attack); transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 2 October 1917; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 10 October 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Persic', 21 December 1917; disembarked Fremantle, 4 February 1918. Discharged as being medically unfit for service, Perth, 27 February 1918 (complications from gas attack, over age).
