Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Near ZONNEBEKE (east of YPRES) on 26th October, 1917, Sapper McNAMARA laid and maintained a ground line to the forward observation station. He personally attended this communication for a period of 17 hours undr very heavy enemy shell fire, and his gallant work on this occasion contributed greatly towards the success of the operation. He set a splendid example throughout.'
