Military Medal 'The work of clearing wounded was a tremendous question on 26th and 27th September, and I personally saw both these stretcher bearers making journeys to and from the Aid Post under heavy shelling in order to relieve congestion. They showed a total disregard for danger and worked for nearly 48 hours without a spell. They both set a splendid example for all men whom they came in contact with. I cannot speak too highly of the magnificent work done by the above two stretcher bearers.'
