Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action. He took his troop with a rush across the open, and captured three machine guns, killing or taking prisoner the personnel. He then continued his advance on a confused enemy, retiring in large numbers, and inflicted heavy casualties on them. It was a fine example of what may be done by quick decision and dash.'
