Military Medal

'This N.C.O. has rendered very great assistance to his Battery Commander during the period 25th February to 16th September 1918 by his devotion to duty and excellent example. During the attack on VILLERS BRETONNEUX, on 24th April 1918 his Sub-section was subjected to heavy hostile shelling, during which he displayed great coolness and set a splendid example to his detachment. During the advance from VILLERS BRETONNEUX on 8th August 1918, his sub-section was part of a forward section sent out in close support of the infantry. On this occasion he again exhibited a cool manner and handled his sub-section in such a way as to be of the greatest assistance to the Officer in charge. he has been continuously with his Battery during the recent operations, and during this time, although his Battery has on occasions been subjected to considerable hostile shelling, he has been untiring and cheerful, and by his coolness under fire has set an excellent example to his detachment and is deserving of special recognition.'
