Military Medal 'For great bravery and devotion to duty at DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 5th April 1918. When ammunition was wanted in the front line he led a party across exposed ground, under heavy Machine gun and Rifle fire, and safely delivered the ammunition. Later in the day when the position was critical he led a mixed platoon in a counter-attack, after his Officer had been mortally wounded, drove back the enemy and re-established the front line. His coolness and personal courage under very trying circumstances were of the greatest possible assistance in restoring the original line.'
