Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Horoata' for change, 2 May 1916; disembarked from HT 'Aragon', Plymouth, 23 June 1916. Proceeded to France through Southampton, 21 November 1916; marched out to Concentration Camp, 29 May 1917; rejoined unit, 13 June 1917; appointed Lance Corporal, 26 October 1917; proceeded on leave to England, 21 December 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 10 January 1918; proceeded on leave to United Kingdom, 19 November 1918.

Admitted to hospital, Belfast, 4 December 1918; discharged to duty, 18 December 1918; marched into No 2 Command Depot, 20 December 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Euripides', 3 March 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 20 April 1919, for onward travel to 2nd Military District. Discharged Sydney, 9 June 1919.
