Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 29 April 1915 (gun shot wound, both thighs). Transferred on board HS 'Derflinger' to Egypt, 29 April 1915, and admitted to Kasr-el-Aini Hospital, 1 May 1915; transferred to No 1 General Hospital, Heliopolis, 28 June 1915.

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Ulysses', 3 September 1915; discharged (medically unfit), 4 November 1916.
