Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 19th October, 1917, when in charge of teams taking up ammunition urgently required at his Battery near ZONNEBEKE, undeterred by the heavy shell fire, by his courage, judgment and determination he succeeded in delivering his ammunition to his Battery at a very critical period. His work throughout the recent operations has set a splendid example of soldierly conduct and devotion to duty.'
