Reported missing 23-25 July 1916, then reported wounded; admitted to 11th General Hospital 18 July 1916 (shell shock); joined Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, ex hospital 16 August 1916; rejoined battalion, 16 September 1916. To hospital sick, 2 November 1916, admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital (bronchitis), transferred to No. 2 Convalescent Depot, Weymouth, suffering bronchitis and trench feet, 12 November 1916; discharged to Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 18 November 1916.
