Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of three trench mortars during three days' operations. When one gun was put completely out of action and another buried by a heavy bombardment he re-organized his crew and had the gun dug out and got into action again. Later, with his two guns, he greatly assisted in the success of a raid.'
