Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during recent operations near BROODSEINDE, east of YPRES. This N.C.O. did valuable and courageous work whilst in charge of Limber Transport during the Battalion's tour of duty in Front Line. On the night 7th/8th November, 1917, his transport came under heavy enemy shell fire, which destroyed the road. He immediately reconnoitred a track forward, and whilst doing so his horse was killed under him. He however, safely led his transport on and delivered Stores to Battalion Dump. His coolness and splendid example to the men under him was most marked, and he showed an utter disregard of personal danger.'
