Distinguished Conduct Medal 'During operations near Bellicourt, on 29 September, 1918, he displayed great gallantry and devotion to duty. The non-commissioned officer in charge of a neighbouring gun team bec ame a casualty, and he took command of the whole group of guns. Throughout the whole shoot, despite heavy enemy artillery fire, he supervised and controlled the work of these guns.'
