Military Medal 'During the operations east of YPRES on 20th September 1917, Pte. MILNE, as Stretcher Bearer was working by himself owing to his assistants becoming casualties. He worked extremely hard on dressing the wounded for whom he searchec in the vicinity of the Blue Line. After the capture of the Blue Line he, with what assistance he could get, began to move back the wounded. He continued through day and night and when the pressure of casualties was relieved in the vicinity of the Blue Line he moved back searching the area in rear for the wounded, moving out to the flanks as far as the left centre of the right Battalion, dressing wounded, and carrying them back to the rear. His disregard of personal danger and the wonderful assistance he gave to the wounded certainly saved many lives and won the admiration of his Company Officers and all his comrades.'
