'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 3/6th Oct., 1917. L/Cpl. MILNER assisted in directing the laying of telegraph lines under intense enemy shell fire. His coolness in action was largely responsible for the establishment of communication within the Battalion.'
