Military Medal 'During the attack on POLYGON WOOD east of YPRES on 20th September, 1917, Pte. MITCHELL did very fine work, He rushed a strong post single-handed, bombed same and forced the garrison to surrender. He afterwards did very gallant work in carrying back messages through the barrage and assisting to maintain communications.'
