Wounded in action, 2 March 1917 (gun shot wound, left hand), admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 45th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 3 March 1917, and admitted to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 4 March 1917; transferred to 2nd Convalescent Depot, 8 March 1917; to 2nd Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 29 March 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 21 April 1917.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 27 April 1917 (gun shot wound, right hand), and admitted to 45th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to Ambulance Train, 28 April 1917, and admitted to 8th General Hospital, Rouen, 29 April 1917; transferred to 2nd Convalescent Depot, 4 May 1917; to 11th Convalescent Depot, Buchy, 8 May 1917; discharged to duty, 22 May 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 5 June 1917.

Wounded in action (third occasion), Belgium, 28 October 1917 (shrapnel wound, right leg and face), admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, and then to Ambulance Train No 32, and admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Boulogne; transferred to England, 1 November 1917, and admitted to Queen Mary Hospital, Whalley, 2 November 1917 (wound: slight); discharged on furlough, 23 november 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 7 December 1917.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 14 January 1918.

Proceeded overseas to France, 7 February 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, Belgium, 13 February 1918.

Wounded in action (fourth occasion), 22 May 1918 (gassed), admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, transferred to 61st Casualty Clearing Station, and then to Ambulance Train No 17, and admitted to 22nd General Hospital, Camiers, 23 May 1918; discharged to 6th Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 28 May 1918; transferred to Base Depot, Havre, 22 June 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 30 June 1918.

Admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, 8 July 1918 (influenza); discharged to duty, 13 July 1918.

Admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance, 13 August 1918 (pyrexia); transferred to 53rd Casualty Clearing station, 13 August 1918, and then to Ambulance Train, and admitted to 14th General Hospital (influenza); transferred to England, 1 September 1918, and admitted to Northampton War Hospital, Duston; discharged on furlough, 26 november 1918, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 10 December 1918.
