Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 9 May 1915; to hospital, 6 August 1915; admitted to 1st General Hospital, Heliopolis, Egypt, 10 August 1915 (fractured rib); transferred to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital, 10 August 1915; to 1st General Hospital, 25 August 1915; to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital, 2 September 1915; rejoined unit, Gallipoli, 29 September 1915; after evacuating Gallipoli, disembarked Alexandria, 27 December 1915.

Proceeded to join Western Front Force, Egypt, 14 January 1916.

Admitted to Isolation Hospital, Wardan, 8 February 1916 (mumps); found guilty, 22 February 1916 of (1) breaking out of hospital when isolated on a case of infectious disease; (2) being absent without leave from 9.30 am, to 7.00 pm, 22 February 1916: forfeited 1 days pay; discharged to duty, 4 March 1916; rejoined unit, 15 March 1916.

Appointed Staff Quartermaster-Sergeant, 5 September 1916.

To 1st Light Horse Training Regiment Cadre Supernumerary Establishment, Moascar,13 September 1917; taken on strength, 14 September 1917.
