Military Medal 'For most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At BROODSEINDE on 9th October, 1917, this man was one of a small garrison in an isolated post in advance of our forward line. This post was within 20 yards of an enemy blockhouse. MOORE covered the consolidation of this post by vigorous sniping and being an excellent shot he inflicted severe losses on the enemy. In spite of the fact that he had to lie on the parapet to use his rifle he continued quite and cool sniping from that position for hours and prevented casualties to our garrison. In spite of physical exhaustion he persisted in remaining at his post and did not cease active work until the relief arrived. his gallantry and splendid coolness set a fine example to all.'
