Joined 1st Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 15 May 1917; struck off strength, 23rd Reinforcements, 28 May 1917; taken on strength, 11th Bn, 28 May 1917.

Proceeded on leave to United Kingdom, 19 February 1918; rejoined unit, 12 March 1918.

Found guilty, 1 April 1918, of being absent without leave, 9 am, 7 March, to 2.30 pm, 12 March 1918: awarded 40 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 52 days' pay.

Admitted to 18th Casualty Clearing Station from Field Ambulance, 20 June 1918 (influenza); transferred to 83rd General Hospital, Boulogne, 20 June 1918; transferred to 1st Australian Convalescent Depot, Havre, 28 June 1918; discharged to Australian Infantry Base Depot, Havre, 18 July 1917; returned to unit, 26 July 1918.

Proceeded to Paris on leave, 20 February 1919; rejoined unit, 3 March 1919.
