'A reliable and very courageous N.C.O. who has served his Battalion with much zeal and devotion to duty. During the period 16th/17th September, 1918, to 11th November, 1918, this N.C.O. was conspicuous for the manner in which he served his Battalion in the duties of a C.Q.M.S. being attached to a Headquarters Company made up of various large details. When the Battalion was in the line period 16th/17th September, to 26th September, 1918, near PERONNE he worked with the greatest assiduity and devotion to ensure adequate and prompt supplies. He personally saw to the distribution of all rations and supplies and often when not compelled to do so, travelling lengthy and heavily shelled areas to the places where the composite Company was in the trenches.'
