'For bravery and devotion to duty as a stretcher bearer in the operations near ZONNEBEKE, east of YPRES on 13th October, 1917, especially under the following circumstances; On the afternoon of date mentioned when the area between St. Joseph's Institute near ZONNEBEKE, and the Railway Dump, was being heavily and continuously shelled, Private MOORE with splendid courage and endurance, repeatedly made one of various squads which traversed this zone of shell fire until the relay post had been cleared. His action, in repeatedly replacing exhausted bearers, rendering it possible to constitute sufficient squads for transporting casualties demanding urgent surgical attention, which could only be obtained at Railway Dump, and thus undoubtedly saving lives which would otherwise have inevitably been lost.'
