Marched out of Australian Artillery Training Depot, Parkhouse, 26 October 1916, and proceeded to 'A' Battery, Fort Wellington, Farnham. Found guilty, 21 November 1916, of hesitating to obey an order given by a NCO: award, forfeits 2 days' pay. Proceeded overseas to France, 2 January 1917 [sic]; marched into Australian General Base Depot, Etaples, 30 December 1916 [sic]. Proceeded to unit, 7 January 1917; taken on strength of 1st Divisional Ammunition Column, 9 January 1917, and posted to No 1 Section. Transferred to 1st Field Artillery Bde, 11 January 1917; taken on strength of 1st Field Artillery Bde, 11 January 1917, and posted to 1st Battery. On leave, 23 September 1917; rejoined unit, 7 October 1917.
