War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Transferred to 6th Light Horse Regiment, and posted to D Squadron, Gallipoli, 29 August 1915. Appointed Temporary Lance Corporal, 3 October 1915. Wounded in action, 11 November 1915 (bullet wound, left side head: serious; both legs and right arm paralysed), and admitted to 2nd Light Horse Field Ambulance. Transferred to HS 'Syria', 18 November 1915; disembarked Alexandria, 20 November 1915, and admitted to 21st General Hospital. Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Ulysses', 6 January 1916; discharged, Sydney (medically unfit), 10 June 1916. Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal Died, Corowa Hospital, 18 August 1916 (pleurisy). |
