Medals |
Military Medal 'During operations at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES from 1st to 9th October, 1917, Cpl. MURPHY was of great assistance in organising carrying parties and under heavy shell fire set a good example to those around him. On the night of 5/6th October, when the Battalion took over the fron line he did excellent reconnoitring work and also established communication with units on each flank. Hid conduct throughout was such that by his disregard of personal safety and high sense of duty he gave confidence to those around him, and enabled them to endure the trying circumstances of their situation.'
