Military Medal 'At HERMIES, FRANCE, on the 9th April 1917, L/Cpl MURRAY was one of three scouts covering the advance of their platoon. They were held up by wire and subjected to machine gun fire from a trench 30 yards distant. They immediately opened fire and by their coolness and skill put the machine gun out of action and enabled their platoon to advance without opposition.'
