Meritorious Service Medal

'During the period 25th February 1918 to 16th September 1918. During the whole of his service in France and particularly for the above period this N.C.O. has shown great devotion to duty combined with courage and initiative in supplying the Battery with ammunition. He had on many occasions to set out to find the Battery position in the dark, over shell torn country covered with trenches and wire with only an approximate map location to guide him. He never failed to locate the guns and deliver the ammunition. His work for the whole period has been most praiseworthy.'
